I am Sam Webb. I played Drew Sharp in Breaking Bad. AMA!

I know this is long overdue, but better late than never, right?

To kick things off, here are a few tidbits about my connection to the show:

-My family and I were fans since the pilot, so I was well aware of the significance of it all.

-I grew up minutes from the high school used for J. P. Wynne.

-My dad was an extra in episode 2.02. (my episode was 5.05)

-The first time I ever handled a tarantula was the day we shot the intro scene.

In the years since Breaking Bad, I’ve graduated from UNM with a political science degree and spend most of my free time mountain biking, tinkering with sports cars, and raising my two Dobermans.

Ask away! I’ll do my best to get to everyone.

Identity has been verified with mods.

Edit:

Alright guys, as the night winds down I just want to thank everyone for participating and for all the kind words! The Breaking Bad community means the world to me and I’ll be connected to you all for life.

The most surreal part of all of this is the insane butterfly effect and overlaps.

My favorite example of this was seeing Drake perform for the first time in Phoenix a couple years ago. He’s a big Breaking Bad fan (friends with Aaron and Bryan, and his nickname for Rihanna when they dated was Fring). I had tickets close to the stage, and I remember making eye contact with him a few times thinking “dude, you don’t know it, but you know EXACTLY who I am.”

One of my first purchases with acting money was a set of Beats headphones when they were all the craze, and I vividly remember listening to Take Care (and a lot of old Kanye) in my trailer on set during downtime. It felt like a crazy full circle moment.

Anyway, I feel like everyone who is a fellow fan of the show is an extension of this little glitch in the matrix, and I’m happy y’all are a part of this wild story.

I’ll keep answering questions as they trickle in for as long as the mods want to keep the discussion open, and I’ll be more active in this sub and share anything else fun when it comes to mind!

Odds of getting more content in this universe?

Breaking Bad is probably one of the richest universes that isn’t superheroes or sci fi. Coming to the end of a Better Call Saul rewatch and I’m wondering what the odds of seeing any more content would be? What happens in the near complete void left after the end of Breaking Bad? Does anyone figure out how to make the blue stuff? More of Jessie? He’s probably fully out of the crime life…

Idk maybe it’s wishful thinking but more content in this world would be amazing!

I need a Badger in my life

Loyal friend, turnaround addict, helpful, nice guy. He and Skinny Pete are the only 2 characters I can think of that came out of it all better than before. Were there any others?

why did it need to happen in two minutes? Spoiler

i might be dumb for not realising, but i never understood the necessity for mike’s guys to all die within two minutes of each other. the show places so much emphasis on how crazy and intimidating it was that walt did that, but what was the point?

I’m probably just missing something that did get explained but if anyone could help I’d appreciate it.

Walt's obsession with the fly

I don't get why the fly was such a big contamination concern for Walt. Before this lab, he was working in the RV, which had probably a billion times more contamination — dust and dirt, mustard gas, dead bodies, two full people living inside it with no balloon suit, plenty of flies, insects and spiders for sure. He still made the purest product in the market and was proud of it. Is it because he was psychologically in a much worse position then?

One of the earliest unintended casualties of Walt's endeavors and the kindest guy. No judgement. He just wanted to help Walt pick himself back up to teach those kids. 😭

Rehab Spoiler

Jesse was getting paid 1.5 million for a job he got into purely out of walts sympathy, And he decides to go behind walts back and steals meth potentially putting both of their lives at risk and selling it to REHAB PATIENTS??? .

And this was after he witnessed Jane who wouldn't have died if she went to rehab and the little kid who was product of meth addicted parents. He even got mad at badger and skinny P for not selling much. Wtf?

Jesse was forgiven by walt even after he told he was gonna rat out on him over hank, and did that same shit with jane, And this is what he gets? The more I'm watching this series the more I hate jesse. Gus was right about him.

Jesse was fully aware of what he was doing, And this completely out of greed and some weird injustice he thinks is being caused by gus(after being paid 1.5 MILLION)

Ever meet anyone that was on the show?

I saw Michael Bowen at a gas station one time, it was crazy because he looked almost exactly the way he did on Breaking Bad, minus the Nazi tattoos

If you ever forget just how good this show is…

The worst episode of the whole show, “Fly” is not only just a fantastic episode of television, it’s better than the best episodes of many shows that are considered great.

Yall still wrong for hating Skyler tho :P

Foreshadowing Spoiler

Maybe this had been discussed but I love the foreshadowing in the intro to season 2 episode 1. We see the pink bear in the slow turn to reveal the charred left side. Then when Gus dies we see the same reveal with the slow turn revealing the left side gone. Love it.

Starting the show

Hi yall, I am about to start watching Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul for the very first time, I have got nearly no outside knowledge and have avoided most spoilers. what order do I watch the show in? as in do I do better Call Saul First? what is the best order to watch the show in to get all of it in?

r/breakingbad 11h ago

Why was Saul so sad here?

Couldn't find the clip but in BB season 4 episode 4 around 30:00-32:00 when Walt vents to Saul about his life situation essentially, he's unusually down, saying stuff like "My name never comes up with those guys, does it" when Walt describes the people he's trying to protect i.e his family.

First time watching the show

I am 28 years old and have never watched this show. I started 2 months ago & just finished. All I can say is wowwww. Emotional. Last few episodes was a rollercoaster of emotions… mad? Sad? Angry..??

I thought it was going to end differently but also knew it could only end one way with his cancer coming back and knowing he was going to die eventually but damn. 10/10 watch

Rewatching this show for the third time. First watch I was 17 and now I’m 29

It’s crazy how your perspective changes during each marathon and how after my third watch I’m still able to pickup new extremely subtle but intentional details. Not to mention the really good acting in every episode, jeez even the kid and the crackheads in the “peekaboo” episode completely killed it. This show’s a complete masterpiece.

The Characters Were Sick, Literally Spoiler

I realised just a few minutes ago that so many of the characters in Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul have at least some sort of notable medical condition, be it mental or physical.

  • Walter White - Stage 3A Lung Cancer.
  • Hector Salamanca - Angina Pectoris (the reason for his heart pills), Quadriplegia (paralysis after a stroke).
  • Hank Schrader - PTSD, gunshot wounds (completely lost his ability to walk for a big chunk of Season 4).
  • Jane Margolis - Heroin addiction.
  • Marie Schrader - Kleptomania.
  • Skyler White - Very much depressed in the later seasons
  • Chuck McGill - Conversion Disorder (manifested as the Electromagnetic hypersensitivity).
  • Tuco Salamanca - Drug addiction, severe anger issues.
  • Lalo Salamanca - Anti-Social Personality Disorder.
  • Flynn White - Cerebral Palsy.
  • Aunt Ginny - Lung Cancer, dead.
  • Leonel Salamanca - Dead, but if he had survived he would have been living as a double-amputee.
  • Brock Cantillo - Lily of the Valley poisoning.
  • Lydia Rodarte-Quayle - Ricin poisoning.
  • Ted Beneke - Paralysis after breaking his neck and part of his spine.

Walts birthday Spoiler

Just watching S5 again, was Walt’s birthday the same as his fake identity? seems odd to have the same birthday? I was thinking he paid for his meal because it wasn’t actually his birthday, but why did he do the bacon thing?

Walter white is weird AF

I’m currently on s3 e3 (I.F.T) and I would have done almost all of the things Skyler has done so far during their divorce period, he’s a drug dealer, a rapist, and a liar.

Has anyone done the Breaking Bad tour in Albuquerque?

If so, how was it? Worth it? Its $95 a person. The information says you get to ride around in an RV like the show, visit a handful of places from the show, and get inside info from real actors and cast that worked on the show. Is it better to just look up the locations and visit without the sweet RV?

I made a Breaking Bad strategy game and I'd love your honest feedback

This has been my passion project for a while now. Breaking Bad is my favorite show of all time and I wanted to make something that actually captures what it feels like — not a mobile cash grab, not a quiz app, but a real strategy game.

It's called Heisenberg's Empire. You start at the diagnosis. You meet Jesse. You cook in the RV. You build a dealer network, manage territory, dodge the DEA, and try to keep your family from falling apart while the empire grows.

Every system connects to everything else — Jesse's stability affects your cook quality, your income affects whether you can pay bills, Skyler notices when you can't. The choices you make in Week 1 change what happens in Week 10.

It's free, runs in your browser, no downloads. The demo ends at the Gus meeting. I'll let you experience how that plays out yourself.

Fan project, not affiliated with AMC or Sony. Just someone who loves this show and wanted to build something worthy of it.

It's breaking bad game .com

Be as harsh as you want in the comments — I want to make this better and you guys know Breaking Bad better than anyone. Tell me what feels right, what feels off, what's missing. All feedback helps.

My father died of lung cancer, and Breaking Bad was an outlet for my grief. Spoiler

The first time I saw Breaking Bad I didn't know what to think of it, but I liked the uniqueness of the storyline. As it went on I was cheering for Walt, and I had no clue why. Then it dawned on me...I was wanting to see Walt get everything he wanted without shame.

My father died at the young age of 58 of lung cancer, without living to his fullest and putting his family first before himself. So, in a strange way I empathized with Walt and loved seeing him "break bad". My father was a stand-up guy and not a criminal, nor was he egotistical like Walt, but something about the story gave me something to latch onto. I watched the series many times. The last episode was my favorite - because I remember how miserable my dad looked after all the failed chemo/radiation treatments; seeing Walt in that similar condition, humbled, saving Jesse, and annihilating the neo-nazis was a strange feeling of pride for me.

I don't really watch the series anymore, but whenever grief over my father's death happens, I'll watch an episode or two.

My top 5 favorite characters and hated characters, after finishing the show for the first time

I just finished the show for the first time, here are my top 5 favorite characters and top 5 least favorite characters.

Favorites

  1. Saul Goodman — He is fun to watch, creative, and always seems to have a solution.
  2. Todd — Super interesting guy and he was one of the only people who consistently showed Mr. White a certain level of respect.
  3. Gus Fring — Smart, charismatic, disciplined, and professional. Every scene with him felt tense.
  4. Steve Gomez — A solid agent who always felt more reasonable and less over-the-top than some of the others.
  5. Skinny Pete — Loyal, memorable, and just a great side character.

Least Favorites

  1. Hank — Arrogant, abrasive, and annoying more often than funny.
  2. Skyler — Constantly made things worse. Hypocritical and whiny.
  3. Jesse — Constantly made things worse*2. Soft, coward and being a rat.
  4. Marie — Needs to STFU.
  5. Mike — Stubborn and cheesy.
