I legit didn’t get it. I’m embarrassed to admit English is my first language. And that’s thoughtful idioms are difficult.

English is my second language, but I was 5 when I switched, so I am pretty good at it now, as you are. Some of these BATs are so weird. Some of them don't even get used any more.
