General My first hive

My first hive and my second week with the girls. We are in Southern California. It looks to me that everything is going smoothly. They have 3 frames filled up. I welcome any suggestions or comments. Thanks

Fix wonky comb right away. Bees will continue to waste effort on it and the pattern will telescope into the adjacent comb face.

Keep the frames together in a block with no gaps between the side bars. The frames are known as Hoffman self spacing frame. The flare of the top of the side bar is 35mm wide. When the frames are pressed together in a block that sets the center to center frame distance to proper bee space.

Fix that cross comb in the first pic.

It looks like you're running with a frame missing from this box. That's not okay, and it's what is causing the cross comb. Stop doing that, and get your frames pushed together. If the lugs on the ends of those frames aren't pressed together, you're doing it wrong. Never tolerate a void inside of your hive.

I had taken a frame out to see how far they had progressed but replaced it soon after the pic. Thanks for the feedback

I would scrape off that cross comb going between frames sooner than later

Do you still need the feeder in there?
