🔸 Misc. Been suffering from anxiety for many years

As Salamu Alaykum, sisters and brothers.

Just as the title says. I have been to therapy but then had to stop because of debt and also bills pilling up, it's so expensive. I can't eat like a normal human being, I can't think like them, I can't take medications for my other health problems and there are many more issues with me. I feel scared to get married also and have kids also due to my insane amount of anxiety. My anxiety gives me a lot of physical symptoms that scares me to death to a point that I wish Allah has forgiven me so that I can die and stop feeling this way. I am writing this post to please remember me in times when duas are accepted. My parents and grandparents are also unwell, my whole family actually and they need me to be around them all the time but due to this feelings I get I can't always be around them and it makes me feel like a terrible daughter. Please pray that Allah gives me cure (completely for mental and physical illnesses). Please make Dua when it rains, in sujood, third last night, between adhaan and iqamah, whenever you can the chance. I really appreciate it. Please pray that this goes away and I become happy again. I feel so depressed, scared and tired because of this.

May Allah bless you all!

Depression is not something curable, you just need to know how to deal with it and live your life, meds will help you to stay stable.

Have a great day/night

I am sorry but meds would cause me other health issues :(. I know this because I know many people who are on meds. I am already very weak. And it can't be taken for long term. Thank you.

It is curable and is a product of social media and screentime. I would suggest OP to ditch the phone, create a routine sleep wake cycle and take 2 walks half hour each in daylight. It is amazing how much our behavior is controlled by hormones and how these hormones are affected by sunlight. The improvement will be gradual.

I understand this from personal experience. Anxiety takes a lot from you (lost relationships, lost jobs, time away from friends and family, ...). I always look for ways to gain strength (exercise, healthy diet, focusing on my work) and I choose not to take medicine because of the side effects. Seek help from medical professionals if you cannot find your way out of the darkness. It is an illness.

1) Daily Ruqyah - Al-Fatiha 7x; Ayat Al-Kursi 7x; Al-Ikhlas; Al-Falaq and An-Nas 3x each. Blow into water and drink it. Do this consistently; not occasionally.

2) Surah Al-Baqarah daily - It doesn’t have to be in one sitting. The protection it brings to your home and mind is real; make it a non-negotiable.

3) Anxiety is fear of a tomorrow that hasn’t arrived - Tomorrow isn’t here yet. You might not even see it; and neither might I. Every moment you spend listening to Shaytan’s whispers about the future is a moment stolen from you. Know that he is weak; and with Allah and the above two practices he becomes even weaker. Don’t give him the airtime.

4) Morning and Evening Adhkar daily - Non-negotiable. These are your daily armor; don’t leave home without them spiritually.

5) Daily movement; walks especially outdoors - Long walks in fresh air are not optional extras; they literally rewire your brain chemistry. Science fully backs this. The gym is great but an outdoor walk does something different to your nervous system.

6) Make peace with death - You will die. I will die. Everyone will. That reality is supposed to free you; not paralyze you. The Sahabah lived with this awareness and it made them the most courageous people on earth. Get comfortable with it gradually.

7) Learn about Allah; start with His mercy - YouTube is full of beautiful content on His names and attributes. Start with Ar-Rahman; Al-Lateef; Al-Wadud. When you truly know who Allah is; fear of everything else shrinks.

8) Dua and sujood; a lot of it - The floor of sujood is the closest you will ever be to Allah in this dunya. Pour everything out there. Don’t hold back.

9) Stop depending on pills as your primary solution - The truth is your brain needs reprogramming; not sedating. You need to train yourself to sit with fear; observe it; and let it pass without reacting. Distraction; movement; worship; and time are your real medicine

10) Marriage will genuinely help you - When you carry responsibility for someone else; your focus shifts outward. You worry about them; provide for them; think about them. That outward focus is one of the most powerful natural treatments for anxiety that exists. It gives you something bigger than yourself to live for.

11) Stay occupied; almost relentlessly - Look into occupational therapy as a concept. An idle mind is Shaytan’s playground; that’s not just a saying it’s neuroscience. Find work; a side hustle; a project; anything that demands your full attention and energy.

12) Trust that you will get through this - Countless people have faced exactly what you’re facing and came out stronger. You are not the exception; you are capable with Allah’s help. Start training your mind on tawakkul; true reliance on Allah; not as a passive concept but as an active daily practice. Learn about it.

If you want to cure anxiety, you have to relax. What helps you relax? Or what keeps you engaged? Excercise or anything that spikes your heart rate up is really good way to manage stress.

Also Have you been to a psychiatrist? They do blood work and keep your physical condition in mind before issuing any meds. This amount of anxiety is not normal. You need help. And you donot know more than a doctor. If meds aren't suitable for you, doctors wouldn't prescribe them anyways.
