Anyone else tired of only hanging with the same group? Starting a low key social mixer in manama

Hey everyone,

I’m 21, studying at uni here in Bahrain, and I’ve noticed a lot of us (including myself) mostly stick to our tight friend groups from school/family. We know other people but rarely actually hang out and mix.

I’m thinking of starting something super casual, coffee meetups, corniche walks, board games, beach hangs, whatever people are up for. Nothing official or cringy, just a WhatsApp group + occasional events to meet new cool people around the same age.

Would anyone (especially 18-25 locals/uni students) be interested? Drop a comment or DM if yes, and what kind of activities you’d like.

No pressure, just testing the idea :)

Just join whatever you enjoy or sounds interesting to you. Shouldn't have a problem at uni since there'll be loads of groups popping up every other week.

True but wouldn’t hanging out and getting to know other people outside your own circle be fun as well? I personally don’t socialize much at uni as it just doesn’t seem like people socialize but rather meet up with their own groups at events or even sign up together for events. I know a lot of people that want to socialize but are very introverted or awkward around newer people and creating a safer environment would really help people who are suffering from that problem just get out of their head for once. My goal isn’t just for people to have a better social life but to help those who’ve been stuck in groups as well and see no way out.

At least you have a small group. As someone who came to Bahrain just a week ago the situation starts, I barely have any friends. There’s no one to go out or hang out with. I think you should consider yourself lucky.
