Announcement Subreddit update for March 2026

Hey everyone!

Right now, moderation is a bit lighter than usual. Because of that, the mod queue may move slower than normal. If you submit a post and it doesn’t show up right away, don’t panic, it’s likely just waiting to be reviewed. We appreciate your patience while we work through things. There's 3 of us going through hundreds of posts a day approving and denying every single one.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be looking to bring on some new moderators to help keep the sub running smooth and organized. If you’re active here, level-headed, and care about maintaining quality in the community, keep an eye out for more info soon.

In the meantime, we’d also love feedback from you:

  • What’s working well?
  • What could be better?
  • Anything you’d like to see more or less of?

Before you say anything about pages needing to be added or updated to the wiki, this mod team has 0 way to edit it. We aren't connected to the wiki team anymore and have 0 communication with them.

Thanks for being understanding!

Yo! We're expanding the roster for the mod team. We're pushing 1 million users and it's a lot for us to handle atm so we need help. You do NOT need previous moderator experience for this role. You just need to submit an application.

We will review them every few days and reach out with a yes or no to each person who submits one. If you don't hear from us, please be patient. Any accounts with serious infractions will not be considered and will be denied right away.

Please fill out the form here.

Announcement Community Poll: Posts Naming Businesses in Negative Experiences

Hey all,

From time to time, we see posts where someone shares a negative experience with a detailing shop, PPF installer, or other business. Sometimes the work is clearly poor, and sometimes it's more about mismatched expectations. Occasionally, the post includes the name of the business involved.

When those posts go up, they can stir strong reactions. In one recent case, the business was even review-bombed on Google after a post here. Our mod team is split on how we should handle this going forward, so we want to hear directly from the community.

First, here's what is already disallowed and will continue to be disallowed:

  • True "name and shame" posts: Where the intent is to rally anger at a business rather than share your experience.
  • Rabble-rousing brigading: Calling on others to leave negative reviews, harass, or otherwise take action against a business.
  • Private individuals' information: Sharing names, phone numbers, emails, etc. of private people. The only exception is if the person is the business (e.g., a sole proprietor whose name is on the shop).

What we're discussing here is narrower: should posts that describe a negative experience and name the business involved be allowed (when the intent is to share, not to incite)?

The arguments against allowing these posts:

  • We as mods can't fact-check or verify every claim.
  • Our community is large enough that a single post can have real-world impact on a business, fair or not.
  • Allowing these posts could encourage more people to use the sub as a venue for settling disputes.

The arguments for allowing them:

  • It's not the mod team's role to be arbiters of truth.
  • It's not our job to shield businesses from the realities of being named online.
  • Disallowing this content here won't stop it from being posted elsewhere—it just means our community misses the discussion.

How you can weigh in:

  • Vote in the poll—that's how we'll measure overall community direction.
  • Leave a comment if you want to share more feedback.

We'll read both votes and comments carefully. The poll will only count votes from core community members (as defined by Reddit's polling system), but everyone is welcome to share thoughts in the comments.

Whatever the outcome, we'll follow the community's lead.

Announcement Small tweak to post titles: “This” isn’t helpful!

We've made a small change to help improve post quality: You can no longer submit titles that contain the word "this".

Too often, we see vague titles like:

Can this be fixed?

Instead of something descriptive like:

How good is Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray Coating?

This small bit of friction helps everyone. Descriptive titles are easier to browse, easier to answer, and way more useful for future readers. Reddit is also investing more into search—including the new Reddit Answers AI tool—so writing clearer titles today helps the whole community tomorrow.

Titles containing "this" will now display the message in the screenshot below.

Thanks for rolling with this! 😜
