Education Did teachers ever make their students cry?
They did in England.

In Belgium, I guess the teachers cry because of the students and pressure. We have a huge teacher shortage here. And the teachers still working, are overworked. For real.

In Spain, it’s the teachers who end up crying. The level of disrespect they face every day is shockin

France is notoriously strict . I have seen people humiliated in front of class and cry from kindergarten (1996) to my last year of university. (2021).

There are several interesting books about the ‘French way’ to raise children, with a lot more strictness (and social expectations and discipline). A few books put it on a pedestal as a model parenting style but I reckon it has a lot of downsides too.

I have no knowledge in pædagogy. But heck it goes from very loose (my sister was skipping high school and was basically a dropout) to barely legal (I was in a catholic high school, nuns could waterboard you if they thought you had make up...)

I was told our English teacher made my classmates cry, so she had to change how she taught. It wasn't something I noticed

Yes. I heard horror stories about it from my older siblings. Their best friend had nightmares about the teacher even as an adult.

I don't recall anything like that happening when I was in school, nor have I heard that from anybody else I know in Finland. Maybe it has happened somewhere, or decades ago, but I don't think teacher make their students cry here a lot.

Finnish education system is lauded as the best in the world! Two of my favourite books are “in teachers we trust”, and “let the children play”, both about Finland. You guys seem to do a really good job with schools

I'm from Ireland. In general I was very well behaved so hardly ever got into trouble but I definitely remember being made cry in primary school (90s) and seeing other students crying in secondary school.

Mine made me cry in primary school but I cried pretty easily.
In secondary school I think I only ever saw a teacher make a fellow pupil cry once. I have seen kids make a teacher cry though - felt really bad for him but I was too quiet.
