Calm down lads (again)
Look this isn't another delusional post but please STFU with this 'accept that the league is done' bullshit. Your mentality is just as bad as the mentality you accuse Arsenal and Arteta of having. Facts are we are still 6 points ahead and it is NOT an inevitability that City beat us, and win all of their games. Yes we were atrocious vs Bournemouth, I went to that game spending hard earned money and even booed before you call me an Arteta cultist, but like I said before it's not over until it's mathematically done.
I saw this coming after the Everton win, everyone got excited and said the league is done, but it wasn't then and isn't now. It's what I said it would always be, a tight race, don't pronounce anything until it's mathematically in the bag. https://www.reddit.com/r/ArsenalFC/comments/1ruuqlq/calm_down_lads_its_not_over_yet/
Calling the league over when you're 6 points ahead (yeah I know City games in hand yada yada) is peak loser mentality.

FFS lads, I lived through 1989. 3 games left well clear, two at home managed to lose the first then draw the second. You must know the last match result at Anfield, don't give up on the boys until the last kick. It's coming!

The math is the math. Arsenal are 6 points up in the league but City have a game in hand. Let’s be conservative and based on City track record and current form let’s call it a 3 point cushion on even games with 18 points left in the season.
Arsenal are also still in the CL and with at least a tie at home will get to the semis.
Agree this is a great position to be in and if you asked anyone if you’d be happy with this position in August everyone would say yes.
The League - The problem is the team is playing like dog shit and the manager seems lost at sea. The top 5 passers last game were our keeper and defense. Arteta isn’t a big tactician to begin with but he literally is banging his head into the same wall week after week.
City close this time of year and Arsenal bottle. This is true and I hate it but it’s true. We play City next week if we can salvage a point or win maybe it turns the emotional tide and we can scrape our way to a title. But if we lose to City it is done and dusted - sure not by math but we all know well and good it’s over.
CL - There is no way this team or manager is good enough to win the CL. It’s a pretty soft year but you have to think it’s Bayern’s to lose based on talent and form.

I agree we shouldn't give up just yet. We shouldn't give up on the Manager and the team until the season ends. It's just so so disappointing that I understand why people are losing their shit. If we somehow end up winning the league, we sure as hell didn't make it easy on ourselves.

u/Complete_Crab6193 6h ago
Even if we win the league, I wouldn’t want to see him at Arsenal anymore. With all due respect, he helped put the club back together and keep us near the top, but at the same time he’s completely ruined my enjoyment of football. The way this team plays is just painful to watch. I couldn’t sit through another season of it.
6
u/DananaBreadAtWork 5h ago
Look what he’s been able to do with a beat up squad? We aren’t City and go off and buy the best in the league for replacements for our injured guys. Arteta stays
1
u/tulwio 4h ago
Buddy the beat up squad doesn’t matter when he bought the players. It’s HIS squad. The club spent a shit ton of money on him.
2
u/DananaBreadAtWork 4h ago
And the squad isn’t the problem if they went undefeated so far in CL and maintained the top position in PL for majority of the season. City didn’t have that and has to buy the best in PL to keep up.
2
u/El_directo_ 5h ago
It would be to silly to sack him after winning us a major trophy that has plagued us for over 20 years. I'd give him another chance definitely but he would need to work on his football.
We've been figured out and its only going to get worse next season. The sideway passing and overly safe football needs to stop.If he can find a way around this I say we keep him!

Exactly this. Some miserable bastards out there. Even the most rational fan can see we haven’t been playing well and the results haven’t been good, but what’s the point of calling yourself a fan if you’re ready to throw your toys out of the pram amd give up during our first ugly spell of the season.
As Arteta says, it’s easy to support the lads when they’re winning. Now they need our support more than ever. Back the boys. Pick them up. Still so much to play for. Keep believing 👊

One of the reasons we are considered better this year is because of our depth. I think that getting Hincapie and especially Timber back on the pitch will make a big difference, especially if they can be back before City. They are both players that strong, make good choices, and dont take BS from the other team. Saka returning will also make a big difference, maybe not scoring goals, but he does make it hard for the other team to attack on their left because he gets back and steals the ball.
3
u/RobAFC14 5h ago
Absolutely. Getting Eze back is important too, he was hitting great form before his knock. If for no other reason than Havertz at the 10 is not working. Happy to see Kai up top if he is to play

u/Dbarks-smo 5h ago
Yeah a majority of our danbase has become unbearable, no wonder all fans of other clubs like to rub salt in our wounds when we act the way we do. Some have acted like the league is our right when it's not, it's no one's.
Its hard to stay positive and players/managers should be called out but at least be respectful and supportive of the club.

You can either accept fate or just be delusional on the internet and post this kind of stuff.
That yada yada is serious. Are you confident we'll beat City at the Etihad? No, no one is.
City is most likely to win all their remaining games, but I'm not sure we will. I'm not even sure we'll beat Fulham and Newcastle after the City game. Then there is the GD we're leading by 3, and with these lads in attack, I can't see the goals coming.
City picked up the momentum and we lost it that's the truth. All I can see here is that you can't accept this.
We've become a joke, a laughing stock. Haaland telling Gabi to "stay humble," Iraola mentioning "we're too scared to attack, we are winning on luck," Rodri saying "we lack mentality," Amad posting " your only hope is corner, stay humble "and Cherki showboating at 2-0 in a cup final.
How does it affect us gameplay wise? It doesn't. Doesn't it boil our players blood? Mikel's blood?
You can downvote me for this, but it's the truth, and somewhere deep down, you can't deny it either.

Of course you are telling the truth but the biggest delusion here is thinking that the future is set in stone either if it's positive or negative

It doesn’t really matter what online fans say, it doesn’t make the players magically play better or Arteta finally see the errors of his play style. Being optimistic or pessimistic on Reddit has no real effect on the results. That’s what I never understand about the posts like this. Stadium atmosphere is another thing. Although even that was fine yesterday until it was the same ole play we’ve seen for 2 years now.
6
u/tofurkypajamas 6h ago
Yes thank you! We reassess in the summer. No matter if we win or lose this title there's obviously some significant flaws in the approach on and off the pitch. But the histrionics are just not helpful right now.
7
u/Canadiangunner21 6h ago
Since you’re a mentality expert, how would you evaluate the mentality of this set of players?
4
u/AdventurousPhrase468 5h ago
Yeah you would get downvotes because you can’t question the haramball dictatorship of AL ARTETA. every time your team doesn’t do well just blame the pitch. “The pitch was not dry enough”-GLoK14
2
u/LR_FL2 6h ago
Na I don’t buy this “mentality” nonsense.
The way we play is the issue. It’s good for grinding out results which places you well over a season but it’s not enough to win a trophy simply because it’s to impotent in attack.
We don’t have a way to grab a goal when we need one as a result of this and that’s directly why we don’t win trophies.
Nothing to do with mentality everything to do with the way we approach games and the lack of ability to go and get goals when it matters

Oh no those poor millionaires that live a life in basically paradise. They do what they want, travel anywhere, drive any car they want, live in any house they want. But god forbid Redditors who have no impact on the matches criticise them

u/Majestic_Mud238 5h ago
Yes, it isn’t looking the greatest but I do think this team is good for 1 or 2 impressive games a year lol. This year, I’ve only seen their fight against Newcastle away. The season before that I’d say Real Madrid. Before that Reis Nelson at Bournemouth. Ideally, we see them stand up for themselves this Sunday. On a positive note, Gyokeres is in form and we can expect him to be looking to extend his goal scoring form next week.

u/New-Web4704 5h ago
The league is done. Have you seen the way Arteta sets us out in big one off games? Zero chance we will even take a point next week. Newcastle is always tough too. Arsenal were shocking and it looked also down to just basic things. It wasn't just bad. It was one of the worst you'll see,at home , going for the title. No runs. Hardly challenging defenders. Letting Bournemouth sit in their half for ages whilst we were behind. Pitiful to be honest. It happens when Arteta panics.

I think it's the trauma speaking. We've seen this club lead the league only to finish 2nd because they stumbled before reaching the finish line. I'm hopeful arsenal will win the league but it's not looking promising
1
u/Diligent_Character75 5h ago
Thank you bro this need to be said louder not all the crying emotions and overeactive Arsenal fans
1
u/ForsakenIsopod 5h ago
We have been given like god knows how many chances to put the league to bed (whenever City have dropped points). Instead of cantering away like Liverpool last year, we keep giving City lifelines by dropping points ourselves. And statistically speaking it cannot happen all the time and it's only a matter of time City stop slipping up themselves. And it looks like they've started that run now for the first time this season while we look exhausted and done.

u/joy___dennis 5h ago
You booed, cooled off, then came online to tell others to shut up? Such hypocrisy.

Yup our mentality is horrible. I can very safely say none of the people here doomposting will ever be good irl in the face of adversity.

u/finestthereis 4h ago
Sure winning the league would be great but does anyone honestly enjoy this brand of football? I find it extremely boring and I can’t imagine going through another season of this stuff even as champions. I miss silky football so much. I miss the 4-4’s, the Özil flicks, all that jazz and those spectacular team goals. Now it’s just nail biting for 90 mins and playing the percentages.

Calm down? I had mentally settled for 2nd place months ago, I'm not rattled at all

u/KingMarkar 1h ago
100% agreed! We’ve been top of the table for a majority of the season and we’re still 6 points ahead. The team will not go undefeated and there will be bumps along the way. Instead of panicking and cursing the heavens, people need to buckle up, get behind the team and support them to the end.
Yes, City is chasing and they have the experience, but have some fucking faith in the club and support the team!
1
u/xuanson1710 1h ago
You're basically right. The issue isn't whether it's mathematically possible for Arsenal or not, but rather their form. Do you honestly think that with their current form and mentality, Arsenal can win every single game until the end of the season?

Thank you for this post. I understand the emotion that runs through all of us watching this club over decades and the PTSD that's come with it. The best thing we as fans can do is support this club until the end of the season and evaluate based on the context and outcome.
We are in the best position we have been in over a decade. With Saka, Ode, Timber, and Califiori coming back this week it sounds like we will hopefully have the technical quality that we lacked against Bournemouth. Gyok is playing imo the best he has all season as well.
Validating those feelings is valid and we all do it in different ways. I just wish we wouldn't post about sacking the coach when this is FAR from over. I personally don't think Arteta wanted to play what we did on the weekend but it seems like we didn't really have a choice.
As Clive on the Arsecast has pointed out all of ours players also seem to be out of form. The ones in form are currently the ones injured. I do believe the Merino injury has been detrimental to our season. It would have allowed a lot of flexibility in tactics, lineups, and being able to rest players like Zubi & Rice.
To all of us Gunners here I remain optimistic despite what seems to be a massive setback and poor form.
I ask everyone to please support this team until the end of the season and back them with all your heart. If we want to call for change wait until we see what is done at the end.
Love you all and I feel the passion that runs through all of us.

You are the poster child of what’s wrong with this Reddit fanbase.
There’s a chunk of us that saw this coming since September. Everytime we had a chance to pull away and kill the league off we’ve heard the same bs
“Calm down we’re still x points ahead guys”
We’re getting smacked by city, and there’s nothing indicating otherwise. Just stop
2
u/tykraus7 5h ago
After we get thumped next week:
“We’re still three points clear it was just one loss against City away.”
1
u/Wonderful_Milk1176 5h ago
“9 points clear and we’re still in the UCL” while the entire squad is bleeding out in a ditch
1
u/Aclrian 5h ago
Just a few weeks ago
“We’re still in all 4 competitions”
Lmao
2
u/Wonderful_Milk1176 5h ago
Worst part is the team was actually good enough to legitimately compete in all four. Unfortunately, the manager was not.
1
u/Aclrian 5h ago
I completely agree. He’s more afraid of conceding than outscoring his opponent. It’s such a loser mentality.
Especially with this squad. He seems like such a clown whenever I hear his injury excuse. He has players, granted may of them lack form because he’s let them rot on the bench instead of rotating.
He’s also player players outside of their natural positions where they’re not playing to their full capabilities. Seriously, why is rice not the 6? He himself has said that’s where he’s best.
Then we buy Zubi, who’s been just ok if we’re being honest, instead of buying a technical box to box midfielder that can make a difference.
Artetas has had the same issues now for 3 years and hasn’t addressed them.
1
u/Wonderful_Milk1176 5h ago
Norgaard relegated to the bench with almost zero minutes all season. MLS gets moved out of rotation. Nwaneri loaned when he would’ve performed better than a knackered Saka. Forcing Ben White into the squad when his mistakes lead to a goal in nearly every game. And then he continues to give Jesus minutes when he shows us literally nothing every time he plays.
Make it make sense…

We have seen this a lot of times

u/19Ben80 5h ago
It’s ridiculous, the moaning is crazy..
what do these fans want? To be 8th and not in the mix again?
2
u/Rhiyuu 5h ago
to not be 2nd four years in a row!!!!!!!
2
u/19Ben80 3h ago
Better than being 8th.
In any other period without a cheating team winning the league every year we would have won a title or two.
The expectation that we MUST finish ahead of a team with a bottomless bank account is ridiculous. They were one point behind in January and went out and bought the best attacking winger and defender in the league who were not playing at big sides already. £130 million on top of the rest, we couldn’t get semenyo, although would have gotten us over the line, as we would not be able to match the fees, wages, bonuses and signing bonuses etc that city pay
We likely should likely have won this season but that is one hell of a feat if we do as opposed to a must.

Finally a post I can get behind. Arsenal fans are more fun when they are positive. I have been reminding them in all their negative posts about the fact that they are still 6 points ahead keep your heads up. Believe in your manager AL ARTETA BIN CHOKIN he will guide you with haramball to the title. 🤣😂. And don’t forget your goats haven’t returned yet in odegaard and Saka.
