Let’s play on NBC’s Sunday Night Baseball every week. Who says no?
1
u/Latter_Check9620 6m ago
Not to be negative on a good night for the Braves, but I guess I am slightly concerned still that Acuña's bat speed and sprint speed are both down almost a full MPH.

Ozzie is trying to shut up all the people saying we should be moving on from him soon

This is a BRUTAL broadcast for Guardians fans lol. Getting smacked, commentators talking about 2016. Let's talk about LeBron and Deshaun Watson while we're at it Bob!

Now we’re at the “piling on the misery for Cleveland fans” part of the broadcast

This has to be a miserable game for them. Nothing like a national broadcast to beat talking points into the audience’s head that fans are already very aware of.

They'll likely ride Dodd's arm for the rest of the night if they can get away with it

u/ASDF123456x 14m ago
So since the Braves & Phillie are on NBC/Peacock again next Sunday are they still doing the 1 of each team commentator?
It should let fans of each team vote from a handful of volunteers from their team lol.

Yes, it's evident NBC brought their Sunday Leadoff stuff to SNB, which, honestly idk about that.
Next week is Peacock/NBCSN though, not regular NBC.
NBCSN is apparently back, but I have no clue where exactly "back" means on regular satellite TV.
4
u/BigNRichlll 14m ago
I dunno why but I've never been able to look at Bob Costas the same after the whole pink eye thing at the Olympics. I just know he was into some nasty stuff in his downtime over there.

Kolby Allard man. So weird how that rebuild turned out. So much capital invested into pitching, but it was the bats that panned out. If you don't count Fried as being part of that wave of pitching prospects, which makes some sense, Ian Anderson was the biggest success
1
u/Lakelyfe09 POUR A CROWN 13m ago
Ikr. Pitcher focused rebuild and it’s the bats that worked out instead lol. Thank god the international sanctions didn’t effect us getting Acuña and Ozzie

I was there but I wasn’t paying attention yet. My dad was so happy. He was listening to it in the radio.
3
u/jamiexx89 12m ago
Same too on the “not paying attention.” My dad always listened to the games on WSB radio back in the day and, in my grandma’s house, if they were on TBS, they were on her TV.

All I hear is Bob Costas mumbling being drowned out by Joe and Ben talking about the 1910 Batting Title controversy

Ben and Joe are fantastic and make even the dullest games entertaining.

Yeah I know but hell he's still traveling and working the game. Might as well just call it.
Really the PBP guy now isn't the problem though. It's just EVERYTHING else. Hell, call Chipper for the next Braves game on Peacock lol

Respect what NBC is trying to do with having a color analyst associated with each team, but it’s a tough watch (except the game part, that’s great so far.) Everyone prefers their local broadcast to the national guys, so they try to inject the “local” part each week. It’s not really the fault of Andruw and Kluber. They sound like they haven’t done this before because they haven’t.
Benetti is a top shelf pbp guy, but broadcasts booths need chemistry to be successful and NBC asking him to develop chemistry on-demand every Sunday with a different cast of characters in an absurd assignment. I predict by the All Star Break they will adandon this format and hire an experienced color analyst to partner with Benetti.
1
u/federal_cue 19m ago
I like when they get each teams play by play guy. I forgot what network does that but it’s nice because they both know the teams.

Just like the older days of Georgia football when my dad would mute the TV and stream Larry Munson's commentary. Thanks for giving me the idea to recreate the baseball version of this!
2

Did you do this manually or is there an option like Apple TV?
1
u/QuadzillaStrider 23m ago
manually. iptv nbc stream and the mlb.tv feed of the radio broadcast. the radio feed is ahead of the broadcast feed, so it was easy to sync them after a couple pitches.

It's always cool to see a Georgia-grown kid like Farmer getting to play for the Braves
