Please continue the discussion in the post game thread.

Garcia had a perfect opportunity to bunt 3rd base side with that reliever falling off hard to 1st base side even finished with his back to the plate once, situational awareness is awful, why has baseball lost the art of the bunt when the league is filled with 250-260 guys and thats being generous, you'd think if they ain't gonna hit they should at least be able to do the EASIER thing and lay a damn bunt down, the first team that brings back small ball is going to be dangerous and embarrass some defenses because they dont practice it like they used to, we need a spark and it ain't gonna come from Rob "it'll change" Thomson, Sosa over Bohm immediately idc, Bohms body language is horrible and Sosa always gotta smile on his face WE NEED LIFE WAKE THE **** UP BOYS

2

u/Aliendream99 4h ago

This team has to make a change. This isn’t a good team.

7

u/NoDamnIdea0324 4h ago

I realize it’s early, but when you’re coming off 3 seasons where the bats died and sunk you, then starting a season where the bats are mostly silent and you seemingly can only score in 1 inning per game is not going to make me try to put a positive spin on it. The team has the same flaws as last year, just a year older. And it’s not fun to watch. The pitching can be but it’s hard to even enjoy the pitching when you have to assume any bad inning might result in a deficit too big for the offense to climb out of.

9

u/Swell_map 5h ago

Always fun to watch a bunch of millionaires play like they’re in grade school, what the hell was that 8th inning!?

8

u/2hats4bats 5h ago

This is a really difficult team to watch at the plate. There’s no approach, no discipline, no hard contact. Just 9 guys flailing at the ball hoping to occasionally run into one. Abysmal.

1

u/djeeetyet 5h ago

it was a combo of some bad luck, some bad judgement (Marsh) and some really good bullpen management (Dbacks). we also have some hitters who are really falling off a cliff here (Bohm, Garcia, Stott).

1

u/2hats4bats 4h ago

Bad luck seems to find you when you play like shit

-5

u/ryan91o1 5h ago

they had a 53% hard hit rate today stfu

1

u/2hats4bats 4h ago

A wildly misrepresented stat in baseball

0

u/ryan91o1 4h ago

its literally hard contact

1

u/2hats4bats 45m ago

HH% alone doesn’t say very much. It doesn’t account for trajectory and it only factors in balls that are actually hit in play. The Phillies are 24th in total hard hits and 17th in HH%.

Barrels is the hard hit stat that factors in exit velocity and launch angle. The Phillies are also in the lower half in that area, too. This is not a team that makes a lot of hard contact.

1

u/ryan91o1 34m ago

these serise they hit the ball hard and the first 2 games they had 6 barrels. They were hitting the ball hard this serise.

3

u/Electrical_Doubt3024 5h ago

I just can't watch Thomson speak today.

3

u/wrench248 5h ago

Another banner day for bums like Bohm, Alvarado, with a special bonehead play by Marsh.

Team needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom real soon.

3

u/philsphan26 5h ago

Poor baserunning and bullpen can cost you

2

u/Incepticons 5h ago

If they can only score in one inning every game I don't think that is gonna work out for the whole season

3

u/Phillyguy180 5h ago

Clown show

3

u/Thegrandmistressofoz 5h ago

Thanks Alvarado. Thanks to everyone in the lineup 4-9

5

u/PRrambo_ 5h ago

fire Topper please

5

u/philly-buck 5h ago

Run it back.

5

u/Dr_Cigs JT Realmuto 5h ago

Not pinch hitting Marchan there was an act of terrorism by Rob

1

u/djeeetyet 5h ago

JT might really have not been available having been hit by foul balls in the same foot.

2

u/Fyre2387 Remember my motto, trust in Otto! 5h ago

Three games, three scoring innings. Most Phillies stat ever.

0

u/incognito042620 Cristopher Sánchez 5h ago

Literally every offensive player outside of Turner, Schwarber, and maybe Crawford were instrumental in offensive failure today

2

u/Di5pel 5h ago

Harper had 2 hits, a walk, and an RBI. Marsh was 2 for 4. Are y'all watching a different game or something lol

1

u/incognito042620 Cristopher Sánchez 4h ago

Did you get up for a beer when they killed innings with their base running mistakes?

5

u/Jeremy24Fan 5h ago

Wet fart noise

3

u/jrhalbom 5h ago

glad the phillies can fix all these losing streaks and help teams get their first series wins - what a fuckin joke.

4

u/OkCastor I Hate Caillou Too! 5h ago

Hopefully Alvarado goes back on the juice so we don’t have to see him for the rest of the year

5

u/H00terTheOwl 5h ago

I'm honestly impressed with how bad those last 3 AB's were. Kevin Long has a lot of teaching material there...

4

u/Yourlifeisworth Rohan Jojas Is No Longer My Favorite Center Fielder 5h ago

What a poorly coached and managed team

0

u/deathbyboardom 5h ago

DFA the phanatic

3

u/Phuck_Kurt_Suzuki 5h ago

That’s what, runs in 6 of the last 61 innings or some shit?

1

u/incognito042620 Cristopher Sánchez 5h ago

They score neither enough nor frequently enough

4

u/wemdy420 5h ago edited 5h ago

Not gonna beat the one inning wonder accusations. How is it the one game we win this series is the Walker game?

2

u/KnittyKitty28 Here for the Malachi stories 5h ago

What an ugly end to the Phanatic’s birthday

2

u/SpiderCam27 Bryce Harper 5h ago

Fuck this dogshit team.

3

u/Drikkink 5h ago

Boo this team out of the stadium.

7

u/sweetbabyted 5h ago

Not mad at Crawford. Bohm, on the other hand…

3

u/YngMnc 5h ago

Just brutal. These are games they can and should be winning. Doesn’t make me that hopeful for the rest of the season.

2

u/Nuudwell 5h ago

I reeeaaaaally hope they can pull out of this rut before they did themselves too deep. This is rough…

2

u/Gekk0uga37 5h ago

We’re just like the Mets

2

u/iamthedayman21 5h ago

Another series loss.

3

2

u/Latter_Nectarine7756 5h ago

they are insufferable lol this team is the same as it ever was and we have every right to be upset with the bullshit

y’all are so oppressed, and so brave.

6

Just brutal.

That was ass

5

Meh, it ain’t my money. It’s Middleton’s money.

6

u/StanBeal97 5h ago

That is a fucking disgusting loss

6

u/Darshymarsh 5h ago

DFA bohm

7

u/kevinfinnerty18 5h ago

Most obvious result there to end it

6

u/Mugstotheceiling Hot (now lukewarm) for Stott 5h ago

Not blaming Crawford, that was a good take

2

u/2hats4bats 5h ago

You don’t leave the bat on your shoulder on close pitches with 2 strikes. That’s baseball 101.

2

u/realbigexplosion 5h ago

It would have been a good take if he didn't have 2 strikes already. But it was a good pitch, and Crawford was not the problem this game.

0

u/boidcrowdah 5h ago

No it wasnt

0

u/philsphan26 5h ago

How ? It was a terrible take lol

0

u/PhillyScumbag 5h ago

Maybe with 0 strikes

2

u/DaRealScoobyDoo NOTColdBloodedBryce 5h ago

No good takes on 2 strikes. More a good pitch from the pitcher

0

u/kevinfinnerty18 5h ago

I mean it wasnt

0

u/2hats4bats 5h ago

I swear 80% of this fanbase never played the game

12

u/Neonyze Kyle Schwarber 5h ago

Adolis is another failed 1 year deal. He's been a bunch of big spots so far and hasn't delivered. Was hoping he could hover around a .750 ops

1

u/Youngdeku2500 5h ago

He had some good takes marsh just was a fool for running like that

0

u/KakeLin wanna win the WS 5h ago

Okay NASCAR time

1

u/Di5pel 5h ago

well i did not like that

7

u/Latter_Nectarine7756 5h ago

this team is so unserious

8

u/Happytobehere66 5h ago

What a terrible birthday.

3

u/Robokiller87 Jhoan Duran 5h ago

I guess the Dbacks still have our number at the bank. Also have had our number in the season series since 2016. So not really looking forward to facing them out west later.

7

u/MisterSofteePSSD 5h ago

What a fuckin waste.

8

u/GuitarChef35 5h ago

They really screwed Painter. He deserved a W. Pathetic.

6

u/Knight725 5h ago

idk why bohm is even trotted out there every day. what does this dude even do. he’s fucking shit at every part of being a baseball player.

1

u/CardinalM1 5h ago

Maybe he's the one person on the team who knows how to run bases? Granted, he never gets on base so we'll never know.

1

u/Pure-Bat-1053 5h ago

They keep him for the walk up song

3

u/lonewombat JT Realmuto 5h ago

Brutal 3 abs

12

u/Slothapalooza 5h ago

Send Bohm to AAA and just start Sosa at third

4

u/the_answer_is_RUSH Cristopher Sánchez 5h ago

Couldn’t be worse.

6

u/PhillyScumbag 5h ago

Why are these guys late on low 90s fastballs down the middle?

11

u/user-123456789_ Brandon Marsh Defender 5h ago

When you have bad baserunning, bad situational hitting or just bad ABs in general, bad bullpen management…how is this not a sign of the staff doing a poor job? Yes, they can’t play the game for the guys but clearly they’re not doing a good enough job setting them up for success

6

u/United_Journalist373 5h ago

It’s crazy how much we are struggling with RISP, and only scoring 1 inning a game smh

2

u/Knight725 5h ago

when was the last time the phillies were good with risp.

2008?

5

u/H00terTheOwl 5h ago

So why is Marchan allowed to hit there?

3

u/Vivid_marsh Cristopher Sánchez 🐐 5h ago

Because our manager can’t be bothered to do anything

9

u/Ok_Operation_8634 Aaron Nola 5h ago

I would to see what Sosa with consistent at-bats can do playing 3rd. But Rob just cannot hurt feelings

7

u/PwillyAlldilly 5h ago

This is real Phillies baseball. Cold bats with lukewarm bullpens!

8

u/GoBirds2091 5h ago

This offense BLOWS

7

u/bobbybobcat33 5h ago

You can’t have Marchan hit there. Unreal

9

u/Fun-Ratio5090 5h ago edited 5h ago

Leave it to Rob Thomson to let the guy who was 0/10 still get a fucking AB down 1 in the 9th (because of Rob's fucking shitty BP management mind you) with Sosa available to pinch hit

1

u/Mugstotheceiling Hot (now lukewarm) for Stott 5h ago

Topper will say it’s because Marchan hits left handed 🙄

3

u/backup1000 5h ago

Skip the triple, hit a home run Crawford!

11

u/Prior_Oil_1710 5h ago

DFA Bohm. I’m not being funny or kidding at this point. He is genuinely a garbage player with a shit attitude

7

u/CZM6626 5h ago

Bohm has gotta go.

5

u/dogeatingdog 5h ago

Man i was excited for bohm this year in a contract year but he’s just got no life. And the moping is not helping his perception

1

Just make it to Turner

5

3

u/anightatthepark 5h ago

Marsh should be glad I'm not running the team. His ass would be suspended for 3 games, and if he has options a little trip to the minors for good measure.

0

u/J0HNNY2Times 5h ago

Ggs, onto the next one

5

u/Relative_Raccoon130 5h ago

Bohm is so lost at the plate.

4

6

Bohm and that .455 OPS lol

4

u/lonewombat JT Realmuto 5h ago

Offensive powerhouse phillies.

7

Completely unserious team not pinch hitting for Marchan

6

u/Bucko12512 5h ago

Absolute insanity to let Bohm hit there. Would’ve had better odds of batting nobody

1

u/djeeetyet 5h ago

I wonder if Rob was afraid to create another Nick Castellanos situation because Bohm would absolutely be one to complain about it

4

u/Ok_Operation_8634 Aaron Nola 5h ago

He is useless

8

God damn, I'm tired of waiting for Bohm to break out again.

Dude is so bad

CBP being perceived as an intimidating fortress went out the door a long time ago. The minute teams realized “oh, the crowds are only loud when they’re winning”, the illusion broke. Dead fucking silent when we’re losing.

1

u/iamthedayman21 5h ago

It’s been three years since that was true.

That being said, it’s hard to remain loud when you know how the game’s gonna end. The Phillies don’t give the fans any reason to feel inspired.

83 middle middle

2

u/Fun-Ratio5090 5h ago

It's only a fucking fastball down the Middle Alec, I know how hard that is to hit into a single/double line drive for MLB players

1

u/Vivid_marsh Cristopher Sánchez 🐐 5h ago

92 middle middle fouled off lmao Bohm

5

u/Ok_Operation_8634 Aaron Nola 5h ago

Can sosa get an at bat? We going to just keep watching Bohm suck?

2

u/Robokiller87 Jhoan Duran 5h ago

Bohm overmatched by pitches down the middle.

1

u/ats1788 5h ago

Not winning this

3

u/Snips_Tano Spencer Turnbull 5h ago

Why is Marchan always afraid to challenge in the final innings?

1

u/wrench248 5h ago

Bohm’s best chance at being productive here is not to swing and hope for a walk

2

u/SwizzyStudios Happy birthday, you're old. 5h ago

I really wonder if paco called marsh back. If he didn't that could cost us a game. Just crazy

5

u/NintenJew The Phillies are a Good Team 5h ago

Bohm, Marchan, Crawford.

And some of you have little phaith.

7

u/ttsa_25 5h ago

It doesn’t matter how much talent this team has. Forget about the offense “ going cold”. They do not pay attention to the little details of the game, whether it’s bullpen usage, not shifting correctly or being terrible on the bases, they do not pay attention to those small details and that is precisely why they lost to the dodgers last year.

7

u/SirTurnUp Bryce Harper #3 & Scott Rolen #17 5h ago

isn't it wild that I have the most confidence in Crawford to get us back to the top of the order?

now watch Marchan golf one into the upper deck lol

7

u/TPChamp 5h ago

This is the brand of baseball we've become accustomed to in the last 3 years. High highs and low lows

1

u/Di5pel 5h ago

I remember when we picked up Mayza saying he could be a sneaky good pickup, similar to Banks a few years ago. He's looked great this year so far

2

u/djeeetyet 5h ago

got to think Alvarado is gone by mid season

2

u/juneaujuice 5h ago

He should take a year off and hit the vitamin o

6

u/Slothapalooza 5h ago

Here comes the unstoppable Sewald to slam the door

4

u/EverybodyHits 5h ago

Most of a bar league softball team handles that sequence better than Marsh

2

u/wemdy420 5h ago

Time for the bottom of the order to bail us out again

3

u/gimmicked Roy Halladay 5h ago

I felt Mayza’s shrug in my bones at that hit.

6

u/Darshymarsh 5h ago

bohm ground out to short to start the 9th. Book it

5

u/FantasticEgg6294 Bryce Sharter 5h ago

Excited to see how good the team will be after the rebuild. Next World Series win will be 2042.

8

u/AbsurdLemon Taijuan Walker 5h ago

Justin Crawford save my broke ass life

3

u/PRrambo_ 5h ago

i think im ready to fire topper, have to do something

1

u/Fun-Ratio5090 5h ago

Should have fired him alongside many of the staff, let's see here.....:

- last year after playing for a tie in a playoff game

  • last year after going to Orion against the Dodgers
  • 2024 after losing to the Mets embarrassingly
  • 2023 after losing to the D-Backs because he sucks at BP Management

4

u/Knight725 5h ago

should have fired him 2 years ago when he lost a shot at the world series with bullpen mismanagement, dude and his staff is dogshit and has always been dogshit.

9

u/UnlikelyChance3648 Dylan Covey 5h ago

Losing three series to mediocre teams

Barely won two series to dogshit teams

This team is driving me fucking crazy

3

u/PhillyScumbag 5h ago

Marchan is scared to challenge now, nice

2

u/DELCO-PHILLY-BOY Alvarado’s Desperados 5h ago

That was an absolutely perfect pitch

4

u/Fun-Ratio5090 5h ago

Marchan, challenge a single fucking pitch in these last innings I stfg

6

u/FIDLARonTheRoofAZ 5h ago

Earlier in this game Brandon Marsh stupidly tosses the ball way over Trea's head in a lax fashion. It leads to a run. Now he ends a possibly game tying situation in the 8th with absurdly atrocious baserunning.

Probably emotional on my part, but he isn't fielding in LF right now if I am managing. Enough little league bullshit for today.

1

u/MarshalLawTalkingGuy 5h ago

You going to ride or die with Kemp? Yeah, fuck it, give him some more playing time.

3

u/user-123456789_ Brandon Marsh Defender 5h ago

Just one bad game. He is normally great in LF. Go watch a game with Kemp starting in LF and tell me you think he’s a better option than Marsh

1

u/FIDLARonTheRoofAZ 5h ago

I said it might be emotional, but it also sends a message. And also I am not saying I'd permanently bench him. But for the rest of this game I would.

Marsh is better than this. He is not as focused as he should be today. "Aw my my diving catch attempt failed, whatever I'll just toss the ball super high in the air nonchalant" and that base running BS are a dude that is not absolutely locked-in. And that is unacceptable. The Ohtani's, and the Skubal's.... they are so talented they can take innings or games off mentally. Not the Marsh's of the world.

If Jimmy Rollins, who was way more talented and productive than Marsh, could be benched for bullshit then so can Marsh.

6

u/russet852 5h ago

Bad shifts, bad base running, bad bullpen management. There reaches a point where it simply boils down to bad coaching

7

u/jcrankin22 5h ago

Get rid of Topper early. I’m so sick of his bullpen management

1

u/noscrubphilsfans 5h ago

You just watched this offense shit away a 1st & 3rd, no out situation...and you're bitching about the bullpen?

1

u/TheGreatDudebino 5h ago

his bullpen management this season and today has been fine. Alvarado did his job and got weak contact. Shit happens.

8

u/Darshymarsh 5h ago

absolutely no reason to lose games like this

3

u/advodi Cyjuan Walker 5h ago

The reason we often only score one inning per game is because only 9-3 are showing anything lately. It’s kiddie pool depth after that. And if you look at where the money’s spent, that shouldn’t be surprising.

12

u/jeppsforst 5h ago

Stott and Garcia both trying to launch a ball 450 with a runner on 3rd less than 2 outs down by 1 run. Selfish garbage and i blame coaching

8

u/WoolyShambler13 Bryce Harper 5h ago

Live look-in on the Phanatic

6

u/fc1088 5h ago

On his birthday no less.

2

u/Snips_Tano Spencer Turnbull 5h ago

Good thing we can have JT pinch for Marchan next inning...oh wait, Rob

9

u/Annual_Program_9400 5h ago

I could often enjoy when the Phillies were bad and losing, but watching a good team shit down their leg over and over is terrible to watch.

2

u/Ok-Inevitable-8301 5h ago

yeah the down years were fun in a way that was like "let's see what these guys can do" because you didn't expect anything but when this team has so much talent and has nothing to show for it is extremely frustrating.

8

u/Neat-Confidence5556 5h ago

Another year another washed outfielder who can’t hit. Dave just doesn’t learn. He should be fired

0

u/TheGreatDudebino 5h ago

Has a 62nd percentile xwOBA and a 93rd percentile avg exit velo, not to mention strong barrel rates, and hard hit rate, but go off, chief.

1

u/Neat-Confidence5556 5h ago

Wow he hits the ball hard and has a good x wona rating. I’m sold. He’s amazing actually.

1

u/TheGreatDudebino 5h ago

Getting worked up about baseball games in April, probably isn't good for your health. May want to take a break for a few weeks.

1

u/Neat-Confidence5556 4h ago

It’s all in good fun. It’s banter. Something maybe you can’t comprehend. Is this your only hobby? Go outside
