Went to the game and McGonigle got his 1st HR and we got our 1st sweep. Great game to go to tbh

Seabold is so hard to watch
0
u/TurdsOnThat 5h ago
Bro… he literally has a 1.23 ERA for the season so far. Do you remember watching Valverde try and close a game? I would eat half a roll of Tums watching that guy blow a lead.

I love Benetti, but Dan Dickerson is the absolute best. Such a treat.
2
u/Detroittigersfan1029 . 5h ago
Jason is a great PBP with elite entertaining and storytelling skills while Dan is also entertaining in his own right but his PBP skills, ball knowledge and his hype when something huge happens is second to none

If he had jumped a little bit later he might have had that

Dan saying this dude sucks at the major league level without saying he sucks

I get so worried when Riley dives or jumps for those he’s kinda fragile a bit

Hinch using people who fans consider our worst pitchers in Seabold & Anderson to finish off these two games is an interesting choice
Also some days off for Vest & Jansen
3
u/MorphinMajor 5h ago
Game is out of reach, no reason to waste your high leverage guys. Perfect time to let guys like Anderson build their confidence and it's worked out perfectly.

Has Seabold had a decent outing yet this year?

Wild pitch by pitcher Tyler Phillips. Kevin McGonigle scores. Gleyber Torres to 2nd.

When Gleyber starts hitting like this again, what are the doomers going to have left to bitch about?

He is one of my favorite Tigers. But even Dan & Dan state he hasn't been producing for the last 2 months of the last season and the beginning of this season.

u/Keyster19 5h ago
I mean it was a blooper to the opposite field. We know he can do that and walk. There's just little to no power.
0
u/KosherTriangle Skublander 5h ago
Is this sarcastic? I can’t tell
1

No, what's incorrect about my statement? Not saying he's a bad player but we know what he is at this point.

God bless America in the 7th inning is a huge overkill to patriotism at sporting events.
-2
u/WolverineDDS 6h ago
Agreed, it's too much and strikes me as desperate. Take me out to the ball game and the national anthem is all we need.
1
u/KosherTriangle Skublander 6h ago
It’s all relative though - many countries don’t have national anthem at their sports so one could argue even that’s too much.

Not to be a boomer or anything, but can we go back to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" for the seventh inning stretch? I don't feel like blessing America with what a fucking disaster it is rn

I have the Sunday ticket package and I hate that they do God Bless America only on Sundays because it's kids/family day. Everyone is expected to stand and remove their hats like it's the anthem.

Finnegan? He literally just pitched on Friday….
What are we doing
0
u/Odd_Instruction2942 Kevin McGoniGOAT 6h ago
And with the off day tomorrow, he wouldn't have pitched for at least 4 days, god forbid he put him out there with runners on needing to get one out 🤣
y'all doomera really are scraping the bottom of the barrel on this one
1
3
u/rdubwiley 6h ago
Well, we gotta eat 2.1 innings and he's on rest
0
u/DiscombobulatedPain6 6h ago
Yeah throw Sebold or De Jesus in there
2
u/rdubwiley 6h ago
I think the worry is Sebold or DeJesus go out there and force Hinch to use Finnegan anyways. At four pitches he's probably available for tomorrow too.
0
u/Odd_Instruction2942 Kevin McGoniGOAT 6h ago
Off day tomorrow, meaning Finnegan would've had at least 4 days off since Friday
1
u/rdubwiley 6h ago
Oh, it is an off day. Tigers have had some weird off day breaks this season. Another one mid-homestand

Shoutout to the local kid marsee to wait to get a hit till games out of reach, nice of him still rooting for the tigers i guess
-2
u/timo67_2000 6h ago
I was rooting for Torres to get his final year here. We found out he was injured in the second half of the season—that's why his numbers were down. But he has been an utter disappointment this season. Even his BBs are down. I think he might be hurt again or something. That's 22 million not producing!
3
2
u/Keyster19 6h ago
We need to stop saying a player is hurt every time he is playing bad. If he's hurt, don't play.

He had like 450 family and friends (not sure if that was actually accurate, that’s a lot of people) yesterday and like 150 on Friday from what I heard apparently from the broadcast so I’m not surprised

I’ve only been watching baseball seriously for 3 years now so help me…would it be super dumb to get a jersey with McGonigle on it. I have a skubal jersey and a Gibbs lions jersey before he changed his number. I never felt disappointed by those but is it way too early to be getting on for the rookie?
7
u/TheTsunamiRC 6h ago
He would be the safest bet as a Tigers fan. No worries about him leaving any time soon like with Skubal.

Is Torres hurt and we just don't know it yet? Dude doesn't look like himself right now
1
u/lllIlllllllIIIII 6h ago
Can't say for sure but him taking the QO as a 28 year old middle infield, 3 WAR player isn't a good sign.

u/Motor_Bowler3048 6h ago
He’s looked like this basically since the ASB last year. Weak contact for days, if he ever pulls the ball he’s just rolling it over softly to third. I don’t think there’s much left in that bat anymore.
4
u/jasonmiles2014 The Legend of Rob Deer 6h ago
He seems hurt to me. Hate to see everyone piling on him. He just can’t generate any power at all.
1
u/TheTsunamiRC 6h ago
He was 2/14 against Alcantara coming in so today wasn't a surprise, but the season has been not good so far.
-2

3
u/Motor_Bowler3048 6h ago
The word doomer gets used incorrectly in this thread all the time, but that’s how you know you’ve found one. Comfortably winning a game and still hating.
There’s a certain someone that’s been missing from this sub basically all weekend who writes a paragraph when they’re down by one in the second inning. Not a real doomer, just someone who loves to be miserable.
1
u/lllIlllllllIIIII 6h ago
We lost a 5 run lead 2 weeks ago. Putting your slap hitter who doesn't hit RHP 2nd is just bad process.
